Who here has traveled with kiddies? I got to take on this exciting endeavor this week when I left to visit my sister in Texas. It seemed it'd be easy enough- I traveled with twin babies numerous times from the age of about 12 weeks on, certainly I could travel with a well-behaved (usually) four year old and a happy one year old. ha ha ha I can hear the laughing now. Here's how it went:
We left easy enough, got through security (which is always fun since Logan and I can't go through the metal detectors and Ty can), and headed onto the plane. There were lots of extra seats, so I was in for a GREAT flight. Well, Logan hasn't flown since he was three, and evidently he forgot how easy it was. He was extremely nervous and kept asking if the plane was going to go down. He cried, held on for dear life, and thankfully calmed down somewhat when we leveled out.
Tyler showed his fear in other ways. First he whimpered, then he held on to me tight, and then he pooped. SOOOOOO much poop that it was bulging his pant leg. I knew I needed to handle it quick or I was in for it (and I still had another flight...) The flight attendant came by to check on us, and I told him I needed to change Tyler. He agreed to sit with Logan so I could lay Ty down in the back of the plane and change him. Another lady gave me one of the airline blankets to lay on the floor to change him on. I warned her it may be bad, and she said just toss the blanket if it was.
I won't go into any gory detail, but suffice it to say I had to throw away the pants. I never throw away something that can be cleaned and used again, but these were beyond help. I threw them out along with socks and the airline blanket. I can't tell you how disgusting that was- and how eventful. Think of the look you would throw a mother who is traveling with a not so young baby wearing only a onesie and shoes in December. Well, those looks were coming like wildfire (and I have to admit they were deserved- who doesn't travel with extra clothes in the diaper bag when you fly?!) Well, I will carry extra clothes for the kids from here on out, I can guarantee it. (And I can also say I don't plan to use those airline blankets again either...unless it's for a changing pad, which we can hope never happens again either!) :-) Happy holiday traveling!!

How horrible! But how true to form. It seems that there always has to be a hiccup in a seemingly flawless plan! I guess at least it was Ty that pooped! And what a trooper Logan is to sit with a stranger when he is already a little anxious! Mad props to my little superman!
Cari you have the best travel stories EVER! I still laugh when I see a McDonalds restroom and think of Ty taking a bath in the sink.
Hey fill us in on the rest of the trip.
ha ha It was really fun! Great conversation, wonderful weather- I can never get enough of my sis!
Ew... that is just lovely. Doesn't stuff like that seem to happen in the most inconvenient places?
