Number 4!

Just a quick note to let everyone know we have ONE sweet little bun in the oven. We were able to do an ultrasound for fun, and saw cute little Baby 4 floating all by him/herself. The little heart was just beating away. I'm so thrilled about this sweet little baby!

Pass the Pita Bread

Nothing says 'Christmas Dinner' like pita bread with butter. Strange you ask? Not for a chickadee who can eat little else! Now those of you who know me well know I LOVE TO EAT! Crab legs, fried chicken, roast and potatoes, ice cream with LOTS of toppings, and calamari for SURE! So, why the switch to pita bread? Perhaps it's a new diet plan- something to 'cleanse the system'. WRONG!

Baby Number 4 is making it's way into the world in July. Thanks to him/her/them...we'll find out around Christmas if it's 'them' :-)....I have been eating little more than pita bread, cereal for breakfast, and ramen noodles- chicken flavor only. I think my entire month's worth of food has cost probably $12.52. (Pita's kind of pricey...but ramen's only 16 cents a bowl...so I figure it evens out. ha ha ha)

So- why in the world am I announcing this so freakin early?! Because I feel super sick and thought a few prayers tossed my way may help. So...pray already!!! ha ha ha I'm only 9 weeks along, decided I would spread the word after the new year, and here I am spilling the beans. I figure it works like this- most of the people who read this live in another state. When someone is out of sight for a while, it seems like you hear they are pregnant, and next thing you know they're shooting you an email asking for your address so they can send an announcement about the baby's birth. So for all of you who live outside of the mid-west and get to enjoy this pregnancy speed-style, I say to you, 'ENJOY'! I can guarantee that it is most certainly NOT speedy on my end. ha ha ha

On a brighter note, I think I may go make some dinner. Ramen soup anyone? :-)

Finals are for the Birds

Remember when college meant getting all dolled up with a very skinny body and going to fancy dinners and dancing until midnight? Or sleeping in on Saturdays until noon, because- well, it didn't matter?! Those were the days....or were they? :-) I would never want to go through dating again, now that I know how awesome it is to be married! I would love to get dressed up and go dancing again, but I do NOT miss taking finals. Fast forward about five (or more ha ha) years...
So, here it is Saturday- the snow falling so thick I can't see the farm house behind us across the field. I'm nice and snuggly in my comfy pink robe, and where's my handsome man? On campus. James left bright and early this morning to get some final studying done before his last final. Here it is freezing cold, and he was up before all of us putting out salt so we can get up and down the steps should we want to go out and play in the snow. He has worked so hard this semester- and even set the curve a time or two! How did I end up with such an amazing man? Well, I tricked him into it. ha ha ha Kidding! Just thought I'd write about him since I haven't seen much of him the past week or two...I'm counting down to the nice long Christmas break!! Perhaps I can convince him to dress up and take me dancing- oh wait, he will! My cousin is getting married and she's throwing a huge bash! I can not WAIT! Wahoo!

Rocking Good Time

Every year when I was growing up my Dad would take me on a half-birthday date.  I LOVED these dates. I would dress up extra fancy and head out for a night on the town.  I was always positive everyone around knew the occasion, as I was so extremely grown up now.  You could tell just by looking at me!  These dates are such a highlight of my childhood that I wanted my own children to experience the same fun with their Daddy.  And if you can't tell by looking at him,

Logan's 4 1/2 now! :-) He got to go out with James for a 'guys' night' to celebrate. They had McDonalds for dinner (he even got a toy), then got ice cream cones, and finally went to Blockbuster to pick up a Batman movie. They're watching it right now- I WAS watching it with them, until Logan informed me it would have a bad guy and I would NOT want to see that part. Evidently the movie is just for boys as well, which solidified the fact that I needed to come add to my blog rather than enjoy the flick. :-) So here I am.

And thinking of fun things to do on the internet, this is one of the funniest things I've seen this Christmas! If you have a second, you really need to check it out. I'm not sure if I can make the link work, so if not, copy and paste! :-) Should you feel a need to break out an elf costume afterwards, just make sure to get it on video.

What's a Snow Day?

We had our first snow day! Logan's preschool was canceled Friday because of snow, and we had a WONDERFUL time! He had no idea what a snow day was, but when I explained it meant that instead of going to school he'd have to stay home and play in the snow he was VERY excited.

We got all bundled up and headed out to our backyard to play in about six inches of snow- the good snowball-making kind of snow! We made snow angels, I got to run Logan around the yard in a sled (somehow I think he got the better end of that deal), and we made a little snowman. Unfortunately my camera wouldn't work (please, Santa...a camera for Christmas!!), so I couldn't take pics, but I did try over...and over...and over. :-)

The best part was probably the snowball fight. Logan thought it was hilarious to not only throw them at me, but to get hit as well. Tyler, on the other hand, thought it was funny to watch us get hit- he did NOT enjoy getting hit with the snow. In fact, he spent most of the time in his swing rather than down in the cold, cooold snow. Ty did like to pretend to throw snowballs (I would throw an actual one at Logan at the same time), and thought it was really funny when Logan got 'hit.'

I know those of you in Arizona are laughing as you sit in your toasty warm houses in t-shirts and flip flops, but I have to say we had SO much fun in the snow, that perhaps we will enjoy it here...almost as much as we did there. :-) So for now, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Never use airline blankets

Who here has traveled with kiddies? I got to take on this exciting endeavor this week when I left to visit my sister in Texas. It seemed it'd be easy enough- I traveled with twin babies numerous times from the age of about 12 weeks on, certainly I could travel with a well-behaved (usually) four year old and a happy one year old. ha ha ha I can hear the laughing now. Here's how it went:
We left easy enough, got through security (which is always fun since Logan and I can't go through the metal detectors and Ty can), and headed onto the plane. There were lots of extra seats, so I was in for a GREAT flight. Well, Logan hasn't flown since he was three, and evidently he forgot how easy it was. He was extremely nervous and kept asking if the plane was going to go down. He cried, held on for dear life, and thankfully calmed down somewhat when we leveled out.
Tyler showed his fear in other ways. First he whimpered, then he held on to me tight, and then he pooped. SOOOOOO much poop that it was bulging his pant leg. I knew I needed to handle it quick or I was in for it (and I still had another flight...) The flight attendant came by to check on us, and I told him I needed to change Tyler. He agreed to sit with Logan so I could lay Ty down in the back of the plane and change him. Another lady gave me one of the airline blankets to lay on the floor to change him on. I warned her it may be bad, and she said just toss the blanket if it was.
I won't go into any gory detail, but suffice it to say I had to throw away the pants. I never throw away something that can be cleaned and used again, but these were beyond help. I threw them out along with socks and the airline blanket. I can't tell you how disgusting that was- and how eventful. Think of the look you would throw a mother who is traveling with a not so young baby wearing only a onesie and shoes in December. Well, those looks were coming like wildfire (and I have to admit they were deserved- who doesn't travel with extra clothes in the diaper bag when you fly?!) Well, I will carry extra clothes for the kids from here on out, I can guarantee it. (And I can also say I don't plan to use those airline blankets again either...unless it's for a changing pad, which we can hope never happens again either!) :-) Happy holiday traveling!!

Rock Solid Forts

One of the coolest parts about being a stay-home mom is that I can make building forts part of laundry day! What better than a fluffy clean comforter to make an awesome fort with? Logan had a blast setting it up with me and playing in it. Tyler didn't quite understand the ''fort" concept at first. Logan had to show him the ropes, but eventually he caught on.

So do I climb on top of it?

This is pretty fun.

Logan: "No, you climb
UNDER it!"

"Ooooh, yeah this is fun!"

So, next time you're stuck in a thigh-high pile of laundry fresh out of the dryer, don't focus on how much there is to fold, or how it'll sit in baskets for the next day or two, or the dirty bodies that caused so much laundry... make a fort or two and say a quick prayer of thanks for your kiddies (dirty or clean) and the memories you're making! I sure am grateful for my little sweethearts- and especially for the cheers I get when I throw that blanket over the chair.
