Of all days for my camera to be out of batteries, today was one I wish it hadn't been. James had the opportunity to volunteer at the Special Olympics, and of course his two little helpers couldn't pass up the chance to 'work' with him! Logan spent time sitting at the check-in table, running up and down the bleachers, and giving high-fives to the contestants. Tyler liked giving high-fives, playing on the bleachers, and running in the mud. :-) There was one little strip of mud with TONS of grass everywhere else. Yep, you guessed it- the mud was the coolest place to play.
It sure was fun cheering on all the Olympians though- James was in charge of the Softball Throw for the girls and women. What happy smiles they each had- one girl was so excited when James told her she'd get a ribbon she just kept giving him all these different high fives and handshakes, and finally could contain herself no longer and gave him a hug before she happily ran over to collect her ribbon. James was wonderful as he made sure each girl and woman knew what a great job she did and when it was her turn to throw. I absolutely love the Special Olympics- I feel like we spent the morning in Heaven as we were surrounded by such wonderful people. Talk about 'angels among us!'

What a fun family activity! So tell me - how did you become involved in the special olympics?
Wow! What a wonderful opportunity! How great for Logan and Tyler to watch their Daddy volunteer for such a worthy event, and to share in that as a family. Heaven on earth is right! Where was it located?
James was invited to do it through his group at school- it was over at the college in Xenia. We'll definitely do it again!
